Lionsgate U.K.'s horror-comedy "Ghosts: The Possession of Button House" opened at the top of the U.K. and Ireland box office. The film collected £2.4 million, or $3.2 million, during its initial three-day run. This debut placed the title ahead of major studio releases in the region for the weekend.
Warner Bros. positioned its DC horror thriller "Clayface" in second place with earnings of $2.6 million. Amazon MGM Studios followed in third with the comedy "Ali G: Who Iz I?", which generated $1.7 million. Black Bear's animated fantasy "Wildwood", directed by Travis Knight, held the fourth spot with $1.36 million.
Paramount's "Street Fighter" moved to fifth place in its second weekend. The film added $1.35 million to bring its total to $5.6 million. Universal's "Forgotten Island" ranked sixth with $1.2 million, while Sony's "Verity" took seventh place with $857,067 in its fourth week.
Universal's "Other Mommy" placed eighth with $576,822. Mubi's drama "Fatherland" debuted at number nine, earning $264,083 from 86 locations. That performance resulted in a screen average of $3,144, the fourth highest per site among new releases. Including previews, the film's total opening reached $415,017, marking director Paweł Pawlikowski's largest launch in the territory.
Studiocanal's "Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom" completed the top ten with $408,089 in its sixth week. Mubi also opened the documentary "Making Marie Antoinette" on six sites. The limited release will expand before Park Circus re-releases Sofia Coppola's 2006 film on Nov. 13.
Mid-week event programming begins on Tuesday with Trafalgar Releasing's broadcast of the Royal Ballet's "Manon". On Wednesday, the music documentary "Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning" screens at more than 100 locations. A wide commercial rollout arrives Friday across 300-plus venues.
Friday's wide releases include Disney's "Everest: The Other Side" and A24's "Primetime", which stars Robert Pattinson. Black Bear's comedy "Wicker" features Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård. Kaleidoscope Entertainment's family film "Arnie & Barney" also opens alongside Universal's "I Love Boosters". The weekend concludes with a live viewing of the BTS World Tour in Sao Paulo.
