Plummer, Chung, and Miller Join Cuarón Thriller Cast

Amanda Plummer, Christopher Chung, and T'Nia Miller have been confirmed as series regulars on the upcoming Apple TV+ drama Ascension. The three actors will join the ensemble cast of the thriller, which is based on the novel Last Days by Adam Nevill.

The production team has not yet revealed the specific characters each newcomer will portray. Plummer, known for her roles in Run and Butterfly Kiss, brings experience in both film and television. Chung has appeared in Slow Horses and My Brilliant Career. Miller is recognized for her work in The Haunting of Bly Manor and VisionQuest.

The new hires round out a cast that already includes Caitríona Balfe and Bill Nighy. Balfe plays Rose, a documentary filmmaker who investigates a mysterious 20th-century group called the Church of Ascension. The show's logline describes Rose as a recently divorced mother who is skilled at uncovering truths for others but struggles to resolve her own issues. She finds temporary refuge in the cult's teachings before discovering darker secrets.

Alfonso Cuarón co-writes the series with his brother Carlos Cuarón, Natalie Erika James, and Christian White. All four writers serve as executive producers. James and White, who previously collaborated on Apartment 7A and Relic, act as co-showrunners. James also serves as the lead director for the project.

Cuarón executive produces the series through his Esperanto Filmoj company, which maintains a television deal with Apple. Gabriela Rodriguez and Richard Schwartz are additional executive producers for Esperanto. Steve Golin, David Levine, and Zack Hayden serve as executive producers for Anonymous Content, the company producing the show. Apple Studios acts as the overall studio.

The announcement marks the completion of the primary cast lineup for the first season. No release date has been publicly confirmed by Apple or the production team at this time.
