Tennessee fans will see a new look on the field this Saturday. The Volunteers are wearing a black uniform set for their game against Kentucky. This is the first time the team has used this specific "dark mode" design in a major matchup.
The kit features a black background with the team's traditional orange accents. Tennessee Football posted the design on social media on November 5. The presentation contrasts the dark jersey with bright orange details to create a high-visibility look.
Other programs are also altering their standard gear for the weekend. SMU is wearing an all-black uniform set. The Mustangs use bright blue for their numbers and accents. Their helmets include an alternate emblem that places the mustang logo inside a letter D for Dallas.
Nevada is also wearing black jerseys and pants. The Wolfpack paired those threads with a matte silver helmet. The lid features a single white stripe down the center. This combination creates a different visual style from the typical black-and-black look.
TCU unveiled a space-themed presentation for its Friday night game. The Horned Frogs are wearing purple jerseys and shiny black helmets. The school promoted the reveal as an otherworldly look for the upcoming contest.
Illinois is returning to a throwback helmet design. The Fighting Illini are using a script wordmark on the side of the lid instead of their traditional block I logo. The rest of the uniform remains a standard blue, white, and orange combination.
Eastern Michigan is wearing a special helmet for its Wednesday night game against Central Michigan. Coach Chris Creighton has emphasized a blue-collar identity for the team. The Eagles' green lids feature an E logo and stripe with a metallic steel pattern.
