KALYSTA sets Detroit debut for Nov. 30 with 'Midnight Special' EP

KALYSTA will release her debut extended play, titled 'Midnight Special,' on Nov. 30. The Detroit area artist has prepared for this milestone for the past three to four years, describing the collection as a project that grew up with her personally.

Her musical path began in school choirs during childhood. Her parents recognized her early affinity for performance and encouraged her to seek opportunities beyond the classroom. She continued to treat music as a major extracurricular activity throughout high school and college before committing to a full time career in the industry.

The new project blends multiple genres to reflect her personal history. She noted that the sound features pop elements alongside soulful vocal styles, R&B, and jazz. She attributed these specific influences to the music she heard while growing up, stating that those genres are definitely present in the new tracks.

The lyrical content of the EP focuses on female strength and self assurance. KALYSTA explained that the messaging centers on being a powerful, strong woman. Many of the songs address specific life experiences and the process of finding confidence.

She will hold a release party for 'Midnight Special' at El Club in Detroit on Nov. 20. The venue will host the celebration as the artist marks the official arrival of her first major project.

The EP serves as the culmination of a long period of development. It represents a shift from student performances to a professional catalog for the artist.
