Katherine Dale Kelly, 24, of Cocoa, was charged with attempted first-degree murder for a shooting in Brevard County.

The incident began in the early hours of Saturday in Port St. John. Elijah Baker, Kelly's boyfriend, drove Kelly's Volkswagen to pick up Angel Adenau at approximately 1:20 a.m. Kelly monitored Baker's location and took an Uber to the meeting spot. She approached the passenger side of the vehicle and fired a single round through the window. The bullet struck Adenau in the left shoulder.

Baker drove Adenau to her residence, where they called for emergency assistance. Adenau was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators recovered text messages from Baker's cellphone. The messages showed Kelly accusing Baker of infidelity and threatening to shoot someone prior to the confrontation.

Kelly told investigators she was trying to "make a point" after believing Baker was cheating on her again. She also claimed she acted in self-defense. The Brevard County Sheriff's Office charged her with four counts: attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, firing a gun into a vehicle, and using a firearm while committing a felony.

Kelly's next court hearing is set for Nov. 24.
