Homeowners Pay for Repairs After White SUV Shatters Car Windows in Chesterfield
Police have no suspects in custody as residents on Red Creek Lane and nearby streets report extensive damage from overnight shooting.

Residents of Chesterfield Township now face the cost of repairing shattered glass after a white SUV targeted several vehicles overnight. Lisa Birkmeier discovered the damage on Wednesday morning when she stepped outside to find her car on Red Creek Lane riddled with holes. Her surveillance footage captures the white SUV pulling up slowly and firing multiple rounds before departing. Birkmeier stated she will pay out of pocket to fix the windshield and two side windows because the vehicle was parked in a private driveway.
The incident is part of a series of attacks that occurred between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Police received four or five calls by the time they arrived at Birkmeier's home. One vehicle on Julies Drive sustained seven shots to its windows. Kelle Finn found his Jeep on Crosscreek Drive with the driver's side window destroyed and bullet marks across the windshield. Finn noted that he initially thought he had been singled out, but felt relieved to learn other neighbors had suffered similar damage.
Both Birkmeier and Finn identified the suspect vehicle as a white SUV that makes a distinct sound consistent with an electric car. Both incidents were recorded on private surveillance cameras. The videos show the same vehicle committing the acts. Police confirmed the vehicle used a BB or pellet gun rather than a standard firearm.
Chesterfield Township police are currently investigating but have no one in custody. Officers are asking residents who have vehicles in the area to check for damage and to come forward with information. The department is reviewing the footage provided by the victims to identify the driver.
Birkmeier expressed frustration over the cost of repairs and the timing of the attack. "Pretty quick I found around 11:20 last night, a car slowly stopped by, shot at it numerous times," she said. Finn also voiced his surprise that someone would act with such boldness while so many neighborhood cameras were running. He noted that while he understands the impulse to have fun, doing so at the expense of others' property is not right.
The investigation remains open. Police are encouraging anyone with additional video or information to contact the Chesterfield Township police station directly. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon.
