The Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first defeat of the 2026 season on Sunday night, falling 27-19 to the Seattle Seahawks. The result ended the Chiefs' perfect start and marked a rare loss for the defending champions. The game served as the final contest on a Sunday slate that featured decisive victories for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Detroit Lions.

Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold completed 20 of 28 passes for 257 yards in the win. He threw one interception in the final seconds of the first half, a pick in the end zone that cost the team potential points. Darnold had thrown five interceptions in the two games prior to Sunday. He avoided sacks during this matchup after being sacked five times in each of the previous two contests.

Receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the offense with 129 yards in the first half alone. That total represents the most receiving yards by a Seahawk in a single half since Tyler Lockett recorded 133 yards at Arizona in 2020. Smith-Njigba now leads the league with 867 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. ESPN Research notes he is the first player in the Super Bowl era to reach at least 850 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns in a team's first seven games.

The Chiefs' offense struggled to find rhythm without wide receiver Rashee Rice, who missed the game with a strained right hamstring. Tyquan Thornton remains on injured reserve following ankle surgery. The remaining receivers, including Xavier Worthy, Cyrus Allen, Justin Watson, Andrew Armstrong, and Jalen Royals, combined for six receptions and 39 total yards.

Running back Kenneth Walker III faced his former team in his first season back in Seattle. The Seahawks held him to 36 yards on 14 carries, never allowing a rush of more than ten yards on a single play. Walker entered the game leading the league with 665 rushing yards.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 165 yards and recorded a season-low six fantasy points. He has not thrown a touchdown pass in either of his last two games. The Chiefs face the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.

Elsewhere in the Week 7 action, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the New Orleans Saints in the NFL's first game played in France. Jaylen Warren rushed for 101 yards on 18 carries to power the victory. The Detroit Lions held the Green Bay Packers to 17 points, forcing a turnover by Brian Branch and limiting Green Bay to five completions on 15 third-down attempts.

The Los Angeles Rams scored on four consecutive possessions in the first half against the Las Vegas Raiders. Kyren Williams and Puka Nacua led the attack as the team looked to replace injured Davante Adams, who will miss five to nine weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Denver Broncos beat the Arizona Cardinals despite being penalized for 114 yards. Bo Nix ran for a 60-yard touchdown, and RJ Harvey caught a 52-yard score. The Cardinals, who are 1-for-10 in the red zone over their last two games, rely on tight end Trey McBride for scoring opportunities.
