The Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 19-15 on Sunday, ending the league's only undefeated season. Jared Goff threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams with 4:35 remaining to secure the victory for Detroit.
The Lions improved to a 5-2 record, marking their third consecutive win. They have now won their first two divisional matchups in the NFC North. The Vikings fell to 6-1 after losing for the first time since their game at Seattle on November 30, 2025.
Jahmyr Gibbs carried the ball for 153 yards for Detroit. He broke a tackle for a 30-yard score in the third quarter. Goff completed 18 of 25 passes for 176 yards. He threw one interception, marking his first of the season.
Kyler Murray led the Vikings' offense with 210 passing yards on 17 of 29 attempts. He recorded two touchdown passes and one interception. The Vikings managed only 81 yards on the ground. Their defense allowed a late lead to slip away.
Detroit broke the scoreless tie late in the first quarter when Jake Bates kicked a 25-yard field goal. Both Amon-Ra St. Brown and Williams committed taunting penalties on the first two drives. St. Brown had a potential touchdown catch reversed after a review showed he did not secure the ball while falling in the end zone.
The Vikings took a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter when Justin Jefferson caught a one-yard pass from Murray. D.J. Reed intercepted a late second-quarter pass after breaking up a previous throw in the end zone. Bates added a 37-yard field goal late in the first half to make the score 7-6.
Bates missed a 46-yard field goal attempt that hit the left upright. The Vikings failed to convert on fourth down from the Detroit 25 in the second half. Murray threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Hockenson and a two-point conversion to Jordan Addison to lead 15-12 midway through the fourth quarter. Theo Jackson left the game with a quad injury. Jack Campbell was transported to a hospital with a neck injury after being placed on a backboard in the fourth quarter. Brian Branch and DJ Wonnum did not return after a collision in the second quarter.
